Once a domain expires, it enters a short “Grace Period” during which you can renew at the regular rate. If you fail to renew during the Grace Period, it enters the “Redemption Period,” where you must pay an extra redemption fee (usually around 95 USD + VAT equivalent) to recover the domain. If the Redemption Period expires as well, the domain becomes available for public registration.
